Volunteer
Whatcom Academy values its families and depends upon their support to help keep our maintenance and tuition costs as affordable as possible.
Whatcom Academy Volunteer Policy:
- Each family at Whatcom Academy is required to invest a minimum of 40 hours per year in volunteer work. Each hour is equal to $12.50, making the total 40 hours equivalent to $500.00. Each family is asked to record their Volunteer Hours on the attached form. The school will not keep record of volunteer hours invested.
- At year’s end, each family’s signed and dated Volunteer Hours Record Sheet is to be submitted to Whatcom Academy Office and recorded on their family fees account.
- If a family has not invested a minimum of 40 Volunteer Hours or has not submitted a signed and dated Volunteer Hours Form by the end of the school year, their family account will be charged $12.50 for each unserved hour up to 40 hours. Payment for any unserved hours will be made to: Whatcom Academy.
- Volunteers from outside our family registry are always welcome! We have had many volunteers from our local community involved in volunteering their time and talents to our school. WE APPRECIATE AND WELCOME ALL VOLUNTEERS TO WHATCOM ACADEMY!!
Volunteer Opportunities may include:
- Regularly-scheduled Recess Supervisor for AM Recess
- Regularly-scheduled Lunch/Recess Supervisor
- Teaching a PE lesson once a week
- Serving in a classroom, helping a teacher with any project needs, or monitoring students during instructional and independent work periods
- Cleaning in the building
- Supporting a student during Intervention Time during each day reading with a child, practicing math facts with a child, working with an individual student or a small group of students, etc.)
- Hosting or chaperoning a field trip
